"Let me introduce you to Nicole Slack Jones..." by Guenael Geay

From the church… to the clubs… but certainly sent from heaven, let me introduce you to Nicole Slack Jones. I met with this New-Orleans native gospel singer, 3 years ago, in Paris. She was performing for a private celebration party in a chic palace, organized by one of my friends. I had no clue who she was, but her voice was covering all the keys in a perfect way and her presence was absolutely “right”, meaning she was making everybody feeling at ease. Forget about all the gospel singers clichés, forget about over made performances, forget about « bless the lord » every 30 seconds, forget about everything, this girl singing in front of me was just smart, funny, natural, on top of being charismatic. We met and talked after her performance, and she told me her story. To make it short, her soulful voice leaded her to sing with Beyoncé and Angie Stone in the movie « Fighting Temptations », play her own role in the series Blackboard Wars produced by Oprah Winfrey Network, toured in 15 countries, performed in 700 shows from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival to the L'Olympia in Paris, next to artists such as Stevie Wonder, Davell Crawford, Aloe Blacc, Tony Renis, Zucchero Fornaciari…

#IAmFree is our first collab and a song written by Nicole that caught my attention straight away. I tried to include here and there some of her influences, and some of mine, gospel, soul and funk meet with disco, early 90’s house music, and tribal progressive. Think the good old time when Whitney Houston was rocking the dance charts with this amazing remix from Thunderpuss on “It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay”. Nicole is working on her own music and will release more tracks soon, please check her out, because she is simply amazing. I’m super excited we started this journey together and really thankful to all the people that has been involved in this great trip so far!
